Todd Snider was born on October 11, 1966 in Portland, Oregon. He spent his first residency at The Daily Planet, a club in Memphis, during the mid-’80s. Discovered by Keith Sykes of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, he had found someone to help advance his career. In 1994 he released his debut album, Songs for the Daily Planet. The satirical single “Talking Seattle Grunge Rock Blues” was his first hit.
