The first MAAC NCAA basketball tickets went on sale in 1982. St. Peter's won the first regular season title, and then again in '84 and '87. No team has clearly had a grasp on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for too long, but several teams have had back-to-back regular season titles, including Manhattan ('03, '04), Iona ('96, '97, '98) and La Salle ('88, '89).
The MAAC Tournament is set up much like any other college basketball conference tournament, with the highest seeds being the teams with the best regular season records. If your specific MAAC team expects their season to move on into the NCAA Tournament, the best way to do that is to play well during the regular season versus the other MAAC teams, in order to improve your RPI and other statistics. Get tickets to a MAAC game or two and see some of the teams jockey for postseason position.
