The musicians who make up Black Tide are merely teens who can really strum their instruments. Ranging from ages 14 to 19 years old, the metal group consists of guitarists Gabriel Garcia and Alex Nunez, bassist Zachary Sandler and drummer Steven Spence. They were invited to play the Ozzfest in 2007, a huge break for the boys who find influences in metal rockers like Metallica and Slayer. After their smash performance during the August show they earned a recording contract with Interscope and debuted their album Light from Above in 2008.
