During his heyday in the 1980s, Stevie Ray Vaughn was considered a blues-rock hero. He brought blues back to the mainstream stage and released numerous hit albums before tragically dying in a helicopter crash in the early ‘90s. But the Arc Angels, made up of the musicians who played with him, keep his style of music alive.

After Vaughn’s passing, his rhythm section (formed by bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton) joined up with two talented singer-songwriters in their own right who had been helped up by Vaughn (Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II). They jammed together in the Austin Rehearsal Complex, or the Arc, which is where they got their name.

The band debuted in 1992 with a self-titled record that was critically well-received. Unfortunately, internal struggles prevented another record from coming out—but live reunion tours did follow.
